Yamamoto is a damaged lunar impact crater that is located to the north of the large walled plain called D'Alembert. The formation spans an official diameter of 77.46 kilometers.

To the north-northeast is the crater Avogadro. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-18.
