Geological Chronicle

Positioned in the northern hemisphere of the Moon's far side, Yablochkov is a ruined lunar impact crater measuring 101.49 kilometers across. The feature lies almost due south of Schwarzschild, a large walled plain.

Subsequent impacts have heavily damaged both the rim and interior of the crater, leaving a formation that is little more than a rugged depression in the surface. The most notable overlying impact is Yablochkov U across the northwest rim, accompanied by smaller impacts along the northern and southern rims.

The crater floor is marked by several small craterlets alongside a crater-like depression along the southeast inner wall. The International Astronomical Union named the feature after Russian electrical engineer Pavel Nikolayevich Yablochkov.
