Von Zeipel is a lunar impact crater spanning 83.41 kilometers across on the Moon's far side. It partly overlies the eastern rim of the larger crater Fowler and intrudes into its interior floor. To the north lies the crater Esnault-Pelterie, while Klute is located due south.
The formation is eroded, particularly along its western and southwestern sides. The remaining rim is worn and rounded from smaller impacts, though the perimeter can still be clearly discerned. A small, worn crater lies across the south-southwestern rim, and a cup-shaped crater sits prominently in the northern half of the interior floor.
Prior to formal naming by the International Astronomical Union in 1970, the feature was designated Crater 86. The crater commemorates Swedish astronomer Edvard Hugo von Zeipel.
