Geological Chronicle

Mayer, or Tobias Mayer, is a lunar impact crater that is located at the western end of the Montes Carpatus mountain range along the southern edge of Mare Imbrium. The formation spans an official diameter of 33.15 kilometers.

It was named after German astronomer Tobias Mayer. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-58.
