Steinheil is a lunar impact crater that is located in the rugged highlands in the southeastern part of the Moon. The formation spans an official diameter of 63.28 kilometers.
It was named after German astronomer and physicist Carl August von Steinheil in 1935. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-128.
