Geological Chronicle

Sinus Aestuum, translated from Latin as "Seething Bay," forms a northeastern extension to Mare Insularum centered at selenographic coordinates 12.1° N, 8.3° W across a diameter of 316.5 kilometers.

The bay features a level surface of low-albedo basaltic lava marked by small impact craters and wrinkle ridges across its interior.

An area of irregular terrain forms the eastern border dividing the bay from Mare Vaporum. To the north lie the Montes Apenninus range and crater Eratosthenes, while the flooded crater Stadius sits along the western side.
