Geological Chronicle
Located in the northern part of the Moon's far side, Seares is an old impact crater spanning 99.5 kilometers in diameter. It lies to the east-northeast of the walled plain Schwarzschild and to the west of the prominent crater Karpinskiy.
Worn and battered by impacts, the rim forms an irregular ring of peaks, valleys, and ridges around the interior floor. The satellite crater Seares B lies across the northeastern rim, while the northwestern rim and outer rampart overlie half of an older crater nearly as large in radius.
The interior floor is nearly level in places but marked by tiny craterlets of various dimensions. Across the central part of the floor from west to east, a band of ridges, grooves, and small craters spans the interior.
