Geological Chronicle

Scheiner is a lunar impact crater spanning 110.07 kilometers in diameter that lies to the west of Clavius, an enormous walled plain. The crater rim is worn, eroded, and marked with multiple impacts, especially along the northern section where a cluster of craterlets covers the entrance to a low valley leading to the north.

Across the interior floor, several small craters are visible, including Scheiner A situated near the midpoint alongside a low ridge crossing part of the eastern floor. The feature is named for Christoph Scheiner, a German astronomer who lived from 1573 to 1650.
