Geological Chronicle
Rima Cardanus is a lunar graben structure spanning 221.93 kilometers in length across the lunar basalt crust. Formed by structural faulting and crustal extension, the trench cuts through terrain within the Vasco da Gama quadrangle (LAC-55).
Officially cataloged by the International Astronomical Union at selenographic coordinates 11.3175° latitude and -71.1375° longitude, the rille designation notes: Named from nearby crater.
