Geological Chronicle

Promontorium Kelvin is a headland situated in the southeast of Mare Humorum on the near side of the Moon. The feature extends over a length of 45.01 kilometers near Rupes Kelvin.

The International Astronomical Union officially approved the name in 1935, entering it under reference number 66 in the lunar catalogue prepared by Mary A. Blagg and K. Müller. The feature commemorates William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, the Scottish natural philosopher.
