Geological Chronicle

Mons Usov is a small lunar mountain situated in the southeastern part of Mare Crisium, spanning a diameter of 13.23 kilometers. Located north of Firmicus crater, west of Condorcet crater, and northwest of Promontorium Agarum, the peak lies at coordinates 11.908° N, 63.2636° E.

The peak is essentially a part of the mountainous rim of the Crisium basin. It appears somewhat isolated due to the flooding of the basin by mare basalt.

The feature was formally named in 1979 in honor of Soviet geologist Mikhail Antonovich Usov.
