Geological Chronicle

Mons Latreille is a solitary lunar mountain in central Mare Crisium, rising approximately 150 meters above the surrounding mare plain. Spanning 6.4 kilometers in diameter across its base, the volcanic structure is similar in nature to Isis and Osiris in Mare Serenitatis. Dorsa Tetyaev lie to the northeast, while the small crater Eckert is situated to the southwest.

The International Astronomical Union officially named the mountain in May 2021 after French entomologist Pierre André Latreille. Located at coordinates 18.47°N and 61.92°E, the feature stands within the Cleomedes (LAC-44) quadrangle.

On 2 March 2025, Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission 1 landed near the slopes of Mons Latreille at 18.56°N, 61.81°E, less than two kilometers northwest of its base. Operating under NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, the lander brought scientific experiments and commercial payloads directly to the site.
