Geological Chronicle
Mons La Hire is a solitary mountain in western Mare Imbrium, located to the northeast of the crater Euler and to the west-northwest of Lambert. Its peak reaches a height of 1.5 kilometers above the surface.
The mountain base has a diameter of 21.71 kilometers and a shape roughly like an arrowhead pointing toward the west-northwest. Nearby small craters include Felix and Verne to the south of the peak. Satellite craters La Hire A and La Hire B sit on the northeast and southwest sides of Dorsum Zirkel, a 193-kilometer-long wrinkle ridge.
The feature was named after Philippe de La Hire, a French mathematician and astronomer who lived from 1640 to 1718.
