Geological Chronicle

Lyell is a lunar impact crater that lies along the eastern edge of the Mare Tranquillitatis, at the northern arm of the bay designated Sinus Concordiae. The formation spans an official diameter of 31.17 kilometers.

It was named after Scottish geologist Charles Lyell. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-61.
