Geological Chronicle
Hypatia is a lunar impact crater along the northwest edge of Sinus Asperitatis, a bay on the southwest edge of Mare Tranquillitatis. The formation spans an official diameter of 38.82 kilometers.
It was named after Egyptian mathematician Hypatia of Alexandria. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-78.
