Hippalus is the remnant of a lunar impact crater on the eastern edge of Mare Humorum. The formation spans an official diameter of 57.36 kilometers.

It was named after ancient Greek explorer Hippalus. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-93.
