Geological Chronicle
Helmert is a lunar impact crater at the southern edge of the Mare Smythii. The formation spans an official diameter of 26.72 kilometers.
It lies near the eastern limb of the Moon, and from the Earth it is seen nearly from the side. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-81.
