Geological Chronicle

Guyot lies on the Moon’s far side. Kostinskiy is only a few kilometers to the northeast, separated from it by rough terrain; Lobachevskiy lies to the west-southwest and Ostwald to the east-southeast.

The crater is worn and eroded, with an outer rim somewhat distorted by nearby impacts. Small craterlets sit along the rim and its sides. Impacts also mark the floor, including an eroded formation in the northwest.

Before the IAU named the crater in 1970, it was known as Crater 208. The name honors Arnold Henry Guyot, a Swiss-born American geographer and geologist.
