Geological Chronicle
Fernelius is a lunar impact crater located in the southern highlands just to the north of the walled plain designated Stöfler. The formation spans an official diameter of 68.42 kilometers.
It was named after 16th century French astronomer Jean Fernel. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-112.
