Geological Chronicle

Fermat is a lunar impact crater located to the west of the Rupes Altai escarpment. The formation spans an official diameter of 37.77 kilometers.

To the west-southwest is the larger crater Sacrobosco, and to the southwest is the irregular Pons. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-96.
