Geological Chronicle

Dorsa Smirnov is a wrinkle ridge system spanning 222 kilometers in eastern Mare Serenitatis. Positioned within lunar quadrangle LAC-42, the feature was named by the International Astronomical Union in 1976 to honor Soviet geologist Sergei Sergeevich Smirnov.

Several landmark features lie near Dorsa Smirnov in the mare basin. The small crater Very is adjacent to the ridge, while Dorsa Lister runs roughly parallel to the south. Further east, Dorsa Aldrovandi extends at the edge of the mare.

   The International Astronomical Union named the feature after Soviet geologist Sergei Sergeevich Smirnov.
