Geological Chronicle

Backlund is a degraded lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon. The formation spans an official diameter of 75.46 kilometers.

It lies beyond the eastern limb, astride the southern rim of the walled plain designated Pasteur, and to the west of the crater Hilbert. It is recorded in the IAU Gazetteer under quadrangle LAC-100.
